The Hill Country presents a kaleidoscope of wildflowers in spring. The color comes with a party in Texas’s favorite town beginning with “Pf”— Pflugerville’s Deutschen Pfest. Dessau and Cameron Roads are a good way to sneak into the capital city for the Austin Reggae Festival at Auditorium Shores on Lady Bird Lake. U.S. Highway 290 leads west to Dripping Springs, where Founders Day is celebrated. Twisty Ranch Road 12 passes colorful fields of flowers on the way to the Wimberley Arts Fest, held each year at beautiful Blue Hole Regional Park. Take Purgatory Road toward New Braunfels for Wein & Saengerfest and sample Texas wines and craft brews while enjoying live music at the Main Plaza. Texas Highway 46 winds its way to historic Boerne, where Berges Fest honors the town’s German heritage. Our route wanders along Boerne Stage Road and Scenic Loop Road to the Helotes Festival Grounds for the San Antonio Highland Games & Celtic Music Festival. (Don’t even think of wearing a kilt on your motorcycle!) Fiesta San Antonio began 125 years ago—events stretch over a 10-day period all across the Alamo City.
