Increased tariffs on imports from Europe and Asia have the potential to increase costs to U.S. producers and consumers of motorcycles, parts, accessories, and apparel throughout the industry.
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) will hold a special online symposium to explore the potential impact of changes in tariff policy on the powersports industry. This online session is free and open to the public. Register here: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/6836654896522004574/.
From the MIC:
“President Donald Trump’s announcements and changes on his tariffs policy have caused confusion and uncertainty among many powersports businesses. To help us better understand what we may expect and what some of the latest changes could mean, the MIC’s Scott Schloegel will be joined by Tori Smith, a trade and tax specialist from government and public affairs advocacy firm Forbes Tate Partners, to address the powersports industry in a special MIC Symposium.
Just days after President Trump announced widespread tariffs, members of the MIC, the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association, and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America gathered in Washington, D.C., for the Powersports Capitol Hill Fly-In, holding 95 meetings on the Hill with members of Congress and their staff. Industry experts and elected officials also addressed the associations’ members during a breakfast briefing.
On the heels of the Fly-In, President Trump changed his position on tariffs, but things continue to be fluid. Schloegel, MIC Senior Vice President of Government Relations, and Smith, Senior Vice President on the Government Relations team at Forbes Tate Partners, will provide the latest tariff updates on Tuesday, April 22, at 11 am Pacific. Schloegel will also discuss what the MIC government relations team has been working on to help protect the powersports industry during this time.“
