This past Saturday, Lu and I visited the Wimberley Valley Winery and Lone Man Mountain Brewing Co., a destination we had been eagerly anticipating. The winery and brewery share a building, located in the scenic Texas Hill Country just outside Driftwood, Texas. Both are family-owned and operated by Dean Valentine.

Founded in 2006, Wimberley Valley Winery has built a reputation for its outstanding Texas wines. The winery sources its grapes from local vineyards. Committed to sustainability and quality, Wimberley Valley’s process unveils the character of Texas grapes, highlighting their unique qualities and the region’s distinct terroir.

Among its diverse selection of wines, the Viognier stands out as a highlight. This white wine is celebrated for its crisp profile, offering vibrant citrus and floral notes that appeal to a wide range of palates. For those who prefer red wines, the Tempranillo provides a robust experience, combining bold flavors of dark fruit and spice.

Wimberley Valley Winery focuses not only on crafting skillfully produced wines but also on creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The winery offers educational wine tastings inside its Tasting Room, where guests can sample five wines from a curated menu for $20. This selection includes house wines and international imports.

Walk-in guests are welcome for groups of one to five, while larger parties of six or more are encouraged to make reservations, particularly on busy Saturdays. Wimberley Valley Winery continues to attract wine enthusiasts with its dedication to quality and its inviting experience.

Lone Man Mountain Brewing Co. opened in 2022 and quickly established itself in the craft beer scene. Known for its small-batch production, the brewery offers a range of beers inspired by traditional brewing methods and expertly crafted by Brewmaster Jason Murdoch.

This brewery has earned acclaim for its diverse range of craft beers, particularly its flagship American IPA, which is noted for its bold hop flavor. Stouts from the brewery promise a rich tasting experience, while a refreshing wheat beer infused with citrus notes caters to those seeking a lighter drink during warmer weather. The brewery’s barrel-aged brown ale stands out with a complex flavor profile that encourages patrons to savor each sip.

In recent years, the brewery has amassed several prestigious awards. Its Belgian Quadrupel was recognized as the Silver Winner at the Fredericksburg Craft Beer Festival in 2025. Additionally, the Patersbier secured the Gold Winner title at the Texas Craft Brewers Cup in 2023, and the brewery’s Belgian Amber earned a Bronze Winner award at the Great American Beer Festival in the same year.

Beyond the brews, guests visiting the property enjoy stunning vistas of rolling hills and 30 acres of lush grounds. The outdoor seating areas, complete with tables and wooden decks nestled beneath oak trees, provide a serene environment for relaxation. On weekends, live music performances enhance the atmosphere.

The Wimberley Valley Winery and Lone Man Mountain Brewing Co. are family- and dog-friendly. On-site food trucks provide various culinary options, such as wood-fired pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and salads.

The establishment offers a versatile venue for special events, featuring both indoor and outdoor options. The main building includes the Tap Room and Blue Room, along with inviting patios for gatherings. Those interested in hosting an event can visit the winery’s website to explore details such as capacity and catering options.

As always, if you choose to drink, please do not ride or drive.
