Aliens. Barbecue. Gumbo. Those three words may sound strange together, but they make for interesting excursions on this small-town road trip. Starting in Fort Worth and heading west, hunt down the remains of an alleged alien in the Aurora Cemetery. Rumor has it that a spaceship collided with the top of a windmill and came down near Aurora in 1897. Townspeople buried the “pilot” in the cemetery. From there, meander along the country roads until you get to some killer barbecue in Bridgeport. Just don’t fill up—you’ll want to leave room to experience Gogo Gumbo’s Cajun-Texas fine cuisine in Boyd. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the delicious food, and the great history on this trip out from Fort Worth.
