The temperatures are finally cooling down. It’s time to dust off your jacket and go forth on some great autumn rides.  For 10 years, we published an annual BEST IN TEXAS edition where we polled readers for their favorites. One year, we asked readers to vote for their favorite roads for autumn colors, and this is what they told us.

And, to wrap it all up, the fine folks at the Tyler CVB have published a nice East Texas Fall Foliage tour.  You’ll find it at the end of this article. Good stuff!

Top 5

These five roads were voted to our BEST IN TEXAS Readers’ Choice Awards TOP 5 Roads for Autumn Color. Give them a ride and see if you agree.

Not on the Top 5 list, but a good set of roads all the same in the Piney Woods Region, check out this Tyler/Henderson/Winnsboro Area Fall Foliage Tour.

When is the best time to go?

The best advice is to call ahead to the local CVBs or Chambers of Commerce to check on the current status of the colors.  Many municipalities in the fall colors areas offer telephone hotlines with fall color updates.
