College Station, TX – Ty Howard and his KTM 1190 RC8 R dominated the sprint races at round 3 of the CMRA series at Texas World Speedway on April 10-11, 2010 winning three individual races and breaking the current track record.

The KTM rider started the weekend off well winning the A Superstock race by an impressive 17 seconds. In doing so, Howard came within 0.5 seconds of hitting the track record currently held by Dane Westby, Daytona 200 runner up.

The Texan mounted a set of Dunlop slicks for the Formula One race and launched off the line in 2nd place. Howard drove off the final turn of the first lap and moved into the lead. The second lap was his best ever as Howard broke the existing track record by 0.4 seconds after turning a 1:41.415 lap time and eventually winning the race by 7 seconds. He repeated that win with another in the Open class taking the victory by 5 seconds over the competition.

“The KTM RC8 R is so easy to ride. I would have never thought I was running 41’s but my lap timer confirmed the time. The KTM’s have very deceiving power. It’s so electric that you don’t realize how hard it is pulling until you are passing 1000’s on the straight,’ remarked Howard.

Howard’s successful weekend helped strengthen his points lead and has increased his win streak to a remarkable 9 straight races.

The 6-hour endurance team race was another consistent outing for the Ridesmart/RPM Cycle/KTM Team. During the second hour while holding a one lap lead, a crash put the team in the pits for 15 laps. They reentered the course 14 laps down. After a hard charge by Ty Howard and Bryan West they were able to set the fastest lap times of the day and were able to move into 4th place – nine laps down on the winner. The 4th place result keeps the KTM supported team in the championship lead by 100 points.
