My wife and another couple and I were pre-riding a club ride this weekend and stopped at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia for lunch. The warm, Western setting was a welcome respite from unexpected chilly winds that had caught us out. While we looked over their extensive menu, mountains of food waltzed by our table on their way to other hungry guests. Decisions, decisions! The San Antonio Burger caught my eye, with its picante sauce, poblano peppers, and jack cheese. A chicken fried steak, fried chicken salad, and a bacon cheeseburger were added to our order. I honestly have to say that may have been the best burger I’ve ever eaten! The hand-shaped patty was thick and delicious. Served on a fresh homemade bun, the burger was joined on the plate by a generous helping of scratch fries. Our friends loved their food as well. Robert’s is located at TX 95, just north of IH 10 in Flatonia. They are open from 11 AM until 10 PM, seven days a week. A banquet room is available for larger parties. Big thumbs…or forks…up!
