Crisp cool air caressing the dew covered chrome amidst the dawning light. Roosters crowing and dry clutches break the silence of night. The aroma of coffee and two stroke exhaust thickly layer the countryside. Before the dreams of night time give way to the rising sun, my heart is overwhelmed with joy as I smile in realization….It’s Rally Time!
The Harvest Classic is a european and vintage motorcycle rally held each fall in Luckenbach, Texas. The 2011 rally will be held on Oct 21 & 22. Gearheads come from all around to enter their bikes in the bike show, ride or watch the vintage trials, eat home-cooked barbecue, win swag (or a bike) in the raffle, go big for the kids in the live auction, watch a big-screen outdoor movie, listen to great blues by Omar & the Howlers, camp under the star, immerse themselves in moto-culture, and rub elbows with kindred spirits. The rally attendees, sponsors, and all-volunteer staff throw down hard to raise a ton of money for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer program of Any Baby Can.
The Harvest Classic European and Vintage Motorcycle Rally is organized by Central Texas Motorcycle Charities. All money raised at the rally (after costs) is donated to the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. Thanks to their generous sponsors and rally-goers, they’ve raised almost $250,000 for Candlelighters since the rally began in 2003.
