Piney Woods Region

When we think of great Piney Woods back roads, FM 729 always comes to mind. It rolls and twists gently alongside Lake O’ the Pines, northeast of Jefferson. It’s especially pretty in the autumn, when the heavily forested area explodes with color. Make sure and stop in one of the local parks that line the lake.

If you continue north on US 259 at the northern terminus of FM 729, you’ll arrive at Daingerfield State Park, a great fall colors destination.

Just GO!
