Most people wouldn’t give Country Boy a second look, if they even noticed it as they passed the tiny, time-worn strip shopping center in Many, Louisiana. It’s one of those places that is unimpressive in appearance, but when you wrap your lips around a bite of their fried catfish, your taste buds give you a mental slap up side the head and wonder why you haven’t been there before.
Their home-mixed cornmeal coating is not set-your-mouth on fire hot, but spicy and very tasty. If I’m within 100 miles of Many, Louisiana, such as when I make a trip to Natchitoches, I’ll go out of my way to stop in for the catfish at Country Boy… it’s that good. If you like fried catfish, you’ll love this place. They use the same seasoning on their oysters, shrimp, and chicken. Locals know about it, and now, so do you. Say “hi” to owner Rita DuBoise.
