The journey toward a spot at the 2014 AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship begins this spring with the AMA Area Qualifiers. The AMA, in partnership with MX Sports, is pleased to announce the schedule that will lead the best of the best to the July 27 to Aug. 2 national in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.
“Whether you are a returning superstar competing in the vet ranks or a rookie in the youth classes, there’s something magical about winning an AMA national No. 1 plate,” said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. “For riders who share this dream, it all begins with the AMA Area Qualifier schedule. Both the AMA and MX Sports worked very hard to produce a well-rounded schedule with the best tracks in the country that support the AMA and the AMA’s mission to protect and promote motorcycling.”
The AMA Area Qualifiers determine the riders who can compete in the seven AMA Regional Championships that in turn qualify riders for the National. The AMA Regional Championship schedule was announced last week. Both the area and regional schedules are below.
“It has long been the goal of MX Sports and the AMA to produce a geographically balanced schedule, and we’re pleased to announce that most of the rider base lives within 150 miles of an Area Qualifier,” said MX Sports Event Director Tim Cotter. “MX Sports is confident that the 2014 schedule reflects the best organizers and the best facilities in America.”
Riders from all over the country compete in the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship qualifier program. Classes are available for competitors from 4 years old to 50-plus on a range of motorcycles, including 50cc minibikes to state-of-the-art highly modified 450cc motocross machines.
