The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s 11th Dallas-Fort Worth Ride for Kids, held Oct. 13, raised $110,142 to help eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors.

The ride, held at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, honored 10 local brain tumor survivors: Summer, Benjamin, Autumn, Malcolm, Cassie, Kieleigh, Cooper, Tommy, Nora and Kami.

“If you meet someone with cancer, no matter what kind, tell them to never give up,” Star Autumn told the crowd.

About 365 people attended the ride, which started on a cool, cloudy morning.

The individual, motorcycle club/chapter and motorcycle business with the most raised were the late Sam Caine ($17,949), Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club ($5,076), and Maxim Honda ($14,391).

Terri McPherson won the drawing for a new Honda VT 1300 . Penny Cloyd won a Bell motorcycle helmet and Jimmy Turner won a Dunlop tire.

Thank you to the dedicated volunteers who organized the event. The 2013 task force leaders were Gary and Julie Touchstone, Jeff Latimer, Gen White, Pat Evans and Larry Harmon.

The event is still collecting donations online at www.rideforkids.org. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through Nov. 13.

ABOUT RIDE FOR KIDS
Ride for Kids is now in its 30th year of raising awareness and funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. These fun-filled, family-friendly motorcycle rides take place across the country. More than 28,000 people in the United States are living with the diagnosis of a childhood brain tumor, and 13 more cases are identified each day. Motorcyclists have helped the PBTF become the world’s largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research. Our programs also include free educational information about brain tumors, Internet conferences and college scholarships.  Register online at www.rideforkids.org or call 800-253-6530 to learn more.
