Pat Reilly heard about the annual global Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and thought San Antonio needed to represent. This past autumn, Reilly organized the first DGR-STX event where riders dress up in “dapper” outfits and ride to raise money for prostate cancer research and suicide prevention. “Riding around town in a suit is my idea of fun—especially if we can do a ride with a profound purpose,” said Reilly, who was pleasantly surprised when registration clicked up to 125 riders. Inclement weather on the day of the ride caused a wrinkle in plans, but some 90 riders were still able to take part. Things kicked off at D’Moto Power Sports, then got rolling past such iconic San Antonio spots as Pearl Brewery, The Tobin Center, Blue Star Brewery, and, of course, the Alamo.

“I couldn’t be more proud of my city,” said Reilly, who reports that riders raised close to $11,000. Event sponsors kicked in for a total of more than $15,000 going to the cause. Stay tuned for more details on the DGR-STX ride—and rides in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and other Texas cities—coming September, 24 2017!
